Week 1 Opinion Paper “Assessing the Importance of Goals”
Assessing the importance of goals. Goal formation within the health services organization is critical to the unification of employee and resources.
In a 1 page paper, using APA formatting, discuss the impact that goals have had on your organization.
Were they effective? Were they communicated to you directly?
If so by whom, if not, why not? What changes would you recommend to senior management in terms of goals and impact on the operations of the organization?

The text suggests that there are six functions of management. Understanding your organization, or one of which you are familiar, is there one function that is more important than the others? Or, are they all equally important? Support your answer.

Week 3 Discussion “Bureaucracy in Healthcare”
Classical bureaucracy has been the defining hallmark of health services organization. Is bureaucracy necessary to deliver effective healthcare? Why or why not?
In an increasing technological environment, there will be an increase in the number of employees who telecommute to work. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting from a healthcare perspective. When you respond to your fellow students’ posts, do you agree or disagree and why? In this week, we build upon your management/leadership action plan by exploring your personal approach to decision making.

Benchmarking is the comparison of one’s organization to another to determine variances in operations, quality improvement, and financial measurement. As a manager, how would we obtain such information from a competitor? If we did not have a good relationship with the organization that we are trying to benchmark, how would we obtain such operational measures? Explain your answer.
